Description:
A figure of a muzzled bear naturalistically decorated and seated on a mound base. Its claws have been exaggerated in the moulding for a fearsome figure that reflects the savage cultural perception of the animal in an era where bear-baiting was either a recent memory or a reality.
Circa 1800
Approx - 10 inches (255mm) tall, 12 inches (300mm) long.
In very good condition throughout save small chip to base.
